Changing environments

Change – Changing environments

Students discover and respond to environmental change in both Australia and other Commonwealth nations in the last 100 years.

Changing environments in the Commonwealth
In this activity students consider environmental change in the Commonwealth. Are the environmental issues for other Commonwealth nations the same as for Australia?

Will the Commonwealth Games create environmental change?
Hosting the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games provides an opportunity for Victorians to contribute to the sustainability of our environment.

Making a difference – mobility footprint
In this activity students will investigate how they can make a difference to environmental change by calculating their Mobility Footprint for travel from their home to a Commonwealth Games event and home again.

Making a difference – water
Students will work in groups to develop a solution to the environmental problem of limited water resources. Students should be encouraged to ask themselves 'Can I make a difference to a global issue?'
