Students investigate changes to social and cultural life in Australia since the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games.

The Games on television
In this activity students will compare the differences in media coverage of the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games and the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. They will be encouraged to examine what changes have occurred in the way we view sporting events in the last 50 years.

Marching as one
In this activity students will investigate how a 17 year old made changes to the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games closing ceremony.

Australian cuisine
Food consumed by Australians has changed significantly since Melbourne hosted the Olympic Games in 1956. In this activity students will design, produce and evaluate a meal they think reflects Australian cuisine.
