Participation for all

Participation – Participation for all

Discover ways to encourage inclusion, diversity and access for all.

Include me!
In this activity, students will work in groups to devise strategies that could be used by their own school community to encourage inclusion, cultural diversity and access for all.

Participation for all
The Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games features a range of events for elite athletes with a disability (EAD). In this activity, students will debate the inclusion of EAD events in a multi-sport competition such as the Commonwealth Games versus holding a separate EAD event like the Paralympics.

Auslan at the Games
It is protocol for the Australian national anthem Advance Australia Fair to be played at both the opening and closing ceremonies and at all medal ceremonies where our athletes win a gold medal. In this activity, students will learn the national anthem in Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and teach it to other groups of students.

The ‘Equal First’ strategy
This activity will assist students to gain an understanding of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games 'Equal First' strategy, which focuses on making the Commonwealth Games a true celebration of diversity. Students will explore the Equal First strategies.
